Rep. Outman shares thoughts on Michigan’s new renewable energy laws


As Citizens for Local Choice work toward getting a proposal on Michigan’s ballot to restore local control in land use decisions for industrial wind and solar operations, Montcalm County’s state representative voiced his concern over the new state laws.

Public Act 233 of 2023 authorizes the appointed three-member Michigan Public Service Commission to streamline permitting of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects instead of allowing municipalities to handle the decisions locally.
