Little’s funeral was held on Monday at Shiloh Community Church in Orleans, and all IPS buildings were closed Monday so that staff and students could attend.

The cause of Little’s death has not been released. Ionia Public Safety Director Cory McDiarmid told the Daily News on Monday that autopsy results would not be available for another one or two weeks.

“(Jason Little) leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having positively impacted countless students, colleagues and members of our community,” IPS Superintendent Benjamin Gurk wrote Monday morning in a letter addressed to the school district community. “I personally was blessed to be able to count on him as a trusted friend.”

Little, 36, of Crystal Township was married to Ashley (Reisbig) Little and had two children. He was born in Lansing and attended Central Michigan University, where he studied education and history and pledged to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, according to his obituary.

Little was a history and social studies teacher and a school administrator for 12 years. According to his obituary, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching football and spending time with his family and friends.

A GoFundMe with a $20,000 goal has been established for his family, with funds raised going “to assist with emergency expenses and to establish college funds for the kids.”
