A former railroad dating back to the Civil War era is now the longest paved trail in Michigan and the third longest in the U.S. Trail enthusiasts from throughout the state trekked to Morley Stanwood High School on Wednesday for an event celebrating the completion of paving the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park. The 92-mile trail runs from Cadillac to Comstock Park with stops in 15 communities, including Rockford, Cedar Springs, Sand Lake, Pierson, Howard City, Morley and Big Rapids.
