In 1960, 142 young men and women crossed the stage at Greenville’s Central Intermediate High School, graduating as fresh-faced 17- and 18-year-olds. The young men had dreams of running their father’s business, or going to college to learn a career, or continuing with farming. The women, back then, dreamed of becoming wives and mothers, or teachers or nurses.
