Orleans man conquers Mackinac Bridge Swim for third straight year 

With each stroke forward, steadily propelling himself through what appeared to be an endless sea, Steve Mills knew there was no turning back in an attempt to swim his way through the Straits of Mackinac. The 66-year-old man and 265 other swimmers took on the 4.5-mile swim from Mackinaw City in the state’s Lower Peninsula to St. Ignace on the Upper Peninsula, during the fourth annual Mackinac Bridge Swim event on July 26.
