A Stanton man pleaded no contest on Thursday to first-degree child abuse, which is a felony with a possible maximum sentence of life in prison; however, the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office is offering minimum guidelines of three and a half years in exchange for the plea. Thaddeus Christopher Barrett, 23, pleaded no contest to the crime related to an incident on May 22, 2024, in Douglass Township involving an infant who was just a few months old.
