‘Save Our Rural Hospitals’

Local group gathers in Carson City to raise awareness of potential cuts to Medicaid and Medicare

About two dozen local residents led a protest on Friday afternoon across the street from the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Carson Hospital to raise awareness of potential cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, as well as the possibility of the hospital closing. The group protesting with the cry of “Save Our Rural Hospitals” were members of “Flat River Indivisible,” the local branch (Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm counties) of the national “Indivisible” organization that was founded in 2016 and dedicated to “resisting the Trump agenda,” according to flatriverindivisible.org.
