One year ago, Montcalm County voters approved a countywide sheriff’s law enforcement millage with the goal of restoring 14 full-time deputies to the sheriff’s office, and thus restoring 24/7 road patrol, a service Montcalm County has been without since 2012. Five new millage-funded deputies have been hired so far — Caleb Evans, Brian Fox, Joshua Lyster, Emily Paulsen and Dylan Tanis.
