An investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into the seclusion and restraint practices utilized by the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District has resulted in a settlement that will see the district end those practices. On June 27, members of the MAISD Board voted unanimously, with President Mark Christensen absent, to accept a settlement agreement with the Justice Department, which was formally announced by the department on Thursday.
