GREENVILLE — The Quad printing facility in Greenville will be closing operations May 16, displacing its 72 employees, the company announced today.

According to a company statement provided to the Daily News, Quad — formerly known as QuadGraphics — announced to employees at its Greenville facility at 1321 E. Van Deinse St. this morning that it will cease print manufacturing operations by May 16.

“This business decision was driven by overcapacity in the printing industry,” the statement read.

Work currently performed in the Greenville facility, which included the production of retail advertising inserts for brands, will be transferred to Quad’s Lomira, Wisconsin, and Winchester, Virginia, locations.

“This decision in no way reflects the quality and performance of employees in the plant, all of whom have performed well and worked hard to make the plant succeed,” the statement read. “Traditional media channels like retail advertising inserts face ongoing challenges as brands and marketers shift spending to other channels, including digital, and address escalating USPS postage rates, which have increased by more than 50% in the last three years alone. Quad continues to optimize its print manufacturing operations to align capacity with these decreased industry volumes.”

Quad said it is offering impacted employees a comprehensive separation package that includes severance pay, continuation of health care benefits and career transition assistance through a career counseling company.

As of Dec. 31, 2024, Quad reported operating 38 global manufacturing and distribution facilities and employing more than 12,000 employees. The majority of its operations are in the United States, where it operates approximately 30 printing plants and approximately 50 client-dedicated teams.
