The Kent County Sheriff’s Office was searching Monday for a man believed to be “armed and dangerous” following a shooting early Monday morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after midnight to a report of a shooting in the 17000 block of Keller Avenue NE in Spencer Township.

Initial investigation indicates the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between two adults in the home. During the altercation, a struggle over a firearm occurred between the adults.

The firearm discharged during the struggle, and a round struck a teenage male in the foot as he stood nearby. A second child in the home ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

The suspect, identified as Andres Simon-Salgado, 39, fled the home on foot prior to the arrival of deputies. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Apprehension and Confrontation Team responded and secured the residence.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the whereabouts of Simon-Salgado, who is wanted for questioning in connection with this incident. He was last seen wearing a black or gray jacket, blue jeans, a long-sleeved black shirt, a black baseball cap, and carrying a red bag, though his clothing may have changed.

Simon-Salgado is known to frequent the Greenville area and is considered armed and dangerous. Federal authorities have also been notified due to Simon-Salgado having an open investigation for illegal re-entry into the United States.

Anyone with information on Simon-Salgado’s whereabouts is urged not to approach him. Instead, call 911 immediately, or report to Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
