McDougall, a native of Grandville, has more than a decade of coaching experience at both the high school and college levels.

He will fill the vacancy left by former Greenville head coach Tom Hallock, who resigned in January after coaching the Yellow Jackets for three seasons.

Most recently, McDougall was the head football coach at Otsego High School in 2023, where he coached the Bulldogs to a 3-6 record after the team previously finished winless the prior season.

In 2022, McDougall was an assistant coach at Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana, where the team finished with a record of 7-3.

Prior to his time coaching in high school, McDougall’s coaching journey saw him at the level of NCAA Div. II football at Northern Michigan University and Ferris State University.

He began coaching at the college level as an assistant coach at Ferris State University in 2013, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree of interdisciplinary studies in 2016.

Beginning as a student-assistant, assistant linebackers and defensive quality control coach in 2013, he worked with the Bulldogs through the 2016 season.

During the 2016 season, he began working with the team’s strong safeties.

In 2017, he embarked on a six-year coaching run at Northern Michigan University, where he worked as the team’s receivers coach and football operations/video coordinator.

Notable highlights for McDougall at the college level include Ferris State competing in the National Semi-Finals in 2016 (NCAA Div. II), securing back-to-back GLIAC championships in 2014 and 2015, and orchestrating undefeated regular seasons in those same years.

McDougall was part of a coaching staff that maintained a 25-game regular season win streak and consecutive NCAA Div. II playoff appearances at Ferris State.

Under his leadership, McDougall also helped players to excel at the Div. II level, with one player landing in the NFL  and nine All-League players emerging from his programs.

Now as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets, McDougall expressed excitement about joining the Greenville community.

“I am honored to lead the Yellow Jackets and contribute to the rich tradition of excellence here at Greenville High School,” he said. “I look forward to working alongside our student-athletes, coaching staff, and the entire community to build a program that instills values of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.”

According to Greenville High School Principal Michelle Blaszczynski, In addition to his coaching achievements, McDougall brings with him a mission to uplift and empower young individuals, adding that his guiding philosophy revolves around helping young people become the best versions of themselves and providing student-athletes with a first-class experience both on and off the field.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott McDougall as our new Head Varsity Football Coach,” Blaszczynski said. “His proven track record of success, coupled with his dedication to the holistic development of student-athletes, align perfectly with our Jacket Pride values. We are confident that Coach McDougall will inspire our athletes to reach new heights and foster a culture of excellence within our football program.”
