Ionia County hires new health officer

The Ionia County Board of Commissioners hired a new health officer at Tuesday's meeting. Haleigh Leslie, a native of Paw Paw in VanBuren County, has a doctorate in public health from East Tennessee State University and most recently worked in Oregon's public health division. “I specifically enjoy working in rural public health, having grown up in a rural community,” Leslie told the Daily News. “When I was finishing my degree, I really wanted to get back into local public health practice and serve the community. When I saw this position open up I said, 'Yeah! This is perfect!''”
