Ionia County board deadlocks on homeless shelter funding request


After a deadlocked vote, a $47,440 funding request from Have Mercy, the non-profit organization constructing a non-congregate homeless shelter, remains unanswered on Tuesday.

Have Mercy Executive Director Kim Cain returned to the Ionia County Board of Commissioners for a third time to ask them to donate the $47,440 the organization needs to complete construction of a non-congregate homeless shelter in Ionia Township that will be the only such facility in Ionia County completed.
