Plans five years in the making to bring a new YMCA to the city were brought before city planners and approved last week, paving the way for a new 85,000-square-foot “wellness hub.” During the Oct. 27 meeting of the Greenville Planning Commission, commissioners voted unanimously, with commissioners Jeremy Miller and Jason Redlich absent, to recommend approval to the City Council that the property on which a new YMCA is planned be rezoned from R-1 (residential) to C-2 (commercial).
