OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP — A man and woman from Greenville died in a motorcycle crash in Oakfield Township on Saturday afternoon.
Deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of Hart Street NE and McArthur Avenue NE. The driver, a 65-year-old man from Greenville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 62-year-old woman from Greenville was a passenger on the motorcycle and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. She later passed away at the hospital.
Preliminary information suggests the driver lost control and left the roadway. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is handling the investigation.
“We are committed to a thorough investigation and supporting those impacted as we work to understand the full circumstances of the crash,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of both individuals during this difficult time.”
