Flat River Academy teacher working again despite facing child assault trial


A Flat River Academy teacher has returned to the classroom despite previously being placed on administrative leave for allegedly assaulting a child. James Mata, 47, of Rockford, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder (a possible 10-year felony) and third-degree child abuse (a possible two-year felony).
