Firefighters respond to smoke at Five Below in Greenville

Cause of fire remains under investigation

A smoke scare that resulted in a light white haze filling the Five Below retail store remains under investigation after firefighters were unable to locate a point of origin Wednesday. The Greenville Department of Public Safety was dispatched at 12:15 p.m. to a report of smoke inside the building at 205 S. Greenville West Drive, which, along with Hobby Lobby, Marshalls and Shoe Dept., is one of four stores that occupy the former Kmart building. According to GDPS Director Brian Blomstrom, while smoke was discovered upon arrival, no active fire was found.
