GREENVILLE — Two seats are up for grabs on the Greenville City Council this autumn, and interested candidates have just over a week to file.
The seats currently occupied by Claude Johnson and Jay Linton are up for election on the City Council. Johnson has submitted his paperwork and petitions to run for re-election, while Linton has not yet, according to City Clerk Krissi Brott.
The deadline to file to run for either one of the four-year positions is 4 p.m. on July 22. Interested candidates must file with the Greenville city clerk’s office. This year, the general election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
The Stanton City Commission also has three seats up for election in November’s election, but that city’s deadline for candidates to apply was in April, as Stanton’s charter allows for a primary election, while Greenville’s charter does not, according to Montcalm County Clerk Kristen Millard.
Lewis Corwin, Jacky McGill and Charles Miel, all current incumbents, are the only candidates who filed to run for those seats in Stanton.
