Clerk leads first public glimpse inside Ionia County’s centralized early voting location

The Ionia County clerk led a tour on Friday of the former Mercantile Bank building, where the constitutionally required nine days of early voting will occur for nearly all county residents starting with the February 2024 primary election. A group of about 20 area clerks, election workers and library staff walked throughout the historic building at 302 W. Main St., with Clerk Greg Geiger explaining how voters, ballots and equipment will be handled, where he will set up polling stations and the security measures in the building that will keep the ballots and machines safe.
