MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — Eight people, including five children, were injured in a pickup truck versus horse-drawn buggy crash today.
The accident occurred around 5:19 p.m. on Dickerson Lake Road east of M-91, according to the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post.
According to police, a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Dickerson Lake Road when the driver attempted to pass a buggy and noticed an oncoming vehicle. The pickup truck driver then went back into their own lane and struck the buggy.
There were five children and two adults in the buggy. All five children were transported to the hospital in serious to critical condition. The adult female in the buggy was also transported in critical condition while the male adult in the buggy had minor injuries.
The male driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, according to police.
