Stanton man sentenced to at least 3.5 years prison in severe child abuse case

A Stanton man was sentenced to less than four years prison for severely abusing his infant son to the point where the child will never have “a normal life.” First-degree child abuse is a felony that carries a possible life sentence in prison; however, Thaddeus Barrett, 23, pleaded no contest to the charge after the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office offered minimum guidelines of 42 months in exchange for the plea.
