Josiah Magley has always been a distance runner for the Ionia Bulldogs, but he hasn’t always been as dominant as he is today.
In his first 3,200-meters run as a seventh-grader, Magley recorded a time of 13:39. Magley recorded several top-five finishes in track in his seventh-grade year, but it wasn’t what he wanted — Magley wanted to be the best.
As a middle schooler, Heath LaPointe joined the Ionia cross country and track teams as a fun, extracurricular activity.

Since joining the Ionia track team as a middle schooler, Angellyn Hyde has grown quite attached to the sport.
Specializing as a middle-distance runner for the Bulldogs, Hyde has been instrumental in the success of the Ionia girls track team, helping them to an undefeated season and conference championship in 2022.
