Hand recount affirms original totals for GPS bond proposal

A hand recount of a Greenville Public Schools bond proposal that failed by only two votes three weeks ago has resulted in an affirmation of the original outcome.

The recount was held Tuesday morning at the Montcalm County Administration Building under the supervision of County Clerk Kristen Millard and the Montcalm County Board of Canvassers.

A Greenville man has requested a recount for a Greenville Public Schools bond that failed by only two votes last week.

A $45.23 million bond proposal for the Greenville school district failed by 1,662 “no” votes to 1,660 “yes” votes in the May 3 election. The bond passed in the city of Greenville’s four precincts and in Spencer Township but failed in Eureka, Fairplain, Montcalm, Oakfield and Sidney townships. It also failed in Otisco Township, 1-2, where only three people voted.
