The Ionia County Solid Waste Planning Committee on Tuesday continued to discuss a proposed landfill expansion from Orleans Township into Otisco Township.
The Solid Waste Planning Committee began meeting last November to review a request from Gary Pitsch, owner of the 143.5-acre Pitsch Sanitary Landfill in Orleans Township. Pitsch wants to expand onto a 40-acre site in Otisco Township bordering Orleans Township and to begin taking in more waste from outside Ionia County.
Christina Miller, a solid waste planning specialist with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), was present at the latest meeting of the Ionia County Solid Waste Planning Committee as that body continues to discuss a proposed expansion to Pitsch Sanitary Landfill.
