The city of Ionia has a new sign ordinance after the City Council approved its adoption by a vote of 8-1 last Tuesday.

A public hearing on Ordinance No. 558, drew no comments.

Stanton seeking bids for ordinance codification

The city of Stanton has received one quote for ordinance codification services and is in the process of seeking more; although, the city likely won’t budget for any potential expenses until the following fiscal year.

Clerk Rachael Coffey first brought up the topic of ordinance codification during a City Commission meeting in early September.

Marijuana rules ‘a work in progress’ in Greenville

As this community moves toward legalizing the commercial growing, processing and retail sale of marijuana, city officials are continuing to work out the logistics of how ordinances will regulate the new industry.

During the July 22 meeting of the Greenville Planning Commission, commissioners began getting into the details of two zoning ordinances sent to them earlier this summer by the Greenville City Council.

Winfield Township Board sets solar, wind public hearing for July 17

Township officials also give themselves a raise

The Winfield Township Board voted 5-0 on Thursday evening to set a public hearing on a new solar ordinance, as well as a pending wind ordinance.

Supervisor Phyllis Larson, Clerk Colleen Stebbins, Treasurer Cathy Killinger and trustees John Black and Steve Cole voted to approve the Planning Commission’s recommendation to hold a public hearing at 1 p.m. July 17 at Crossroads Worship Center at the intersection of M-46 and old 131 just north of Howard City.

Crystal Township Board revisits wind ordinance conversation

Like many townships in Montcalm County, the Crystal Township Board is beginning the process of creating/updating a wind ordinance.

The topic of renewable energy, both wind and solar, was broached by the Crystal Township Board during Wednesday’s meeting. The board briefly discussed creating a wind ordinance in township meetings over the past few months, but has not yet started drafting an ordinance.
