Montcalm County is excited to introduce the addition of a second state-of-the-art site utilizing its new recycling system which includes two large compactor units.
These units will address the increased need for recycling within the northern portion of the county. This will be the second site under the Montcalm County Recycling Program umbrella to make this transition. This is a direct result of investments totaling more than $25,000 in equipment through a partnership with Republic Services and the Montcalm County Solid Waste Committee.
The Montcalm Conservation District has joined the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), The Recycling Partnership, a nonprofit organization that works with communities, companies, and governments to transform recycling, and nearly 100 other Michigan communities to help residents recycle more, better.
Mike MacEachron II recently started as the Forestry Assistance Program (FAP) forester for the Montcalm Conservation District, servicing Montcalm, Kent, and Ionia counties.
A new recycling program in this village is not only a pilot for Montcalm County, it’s a first for the state of Michigan.
Two unmanned, state-of-the-art recycling compactors were unveiled in Lakeview on Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting attended by local, county and state leaders.
