New Beginnings Resale Shoppe expands offerings with new location

Back in 2008, a group of parents found their young adults didn’t have much to do after they graduated from school.

There were no programs in their community to help them gain skills and no places for them to work. So, putting their head together, they founded New Beginnings.

From the time she was just 7 years old, Marie Wise had always known she wanted to grow up to become a nurse, to take care of anyone who may be sick or in need of help.

What she didn’t realize until much later in life was that her desire to become a nurse would lead to a career at Spectrum Health United Hospital (formerly United Memorial Hospital), one that would span across five decades until her retirement.

Every third weekend in August I have come to experience an event that envelops the Greenville community in a sea of red and white — the annual Danish Festival.

While thousands of residents and visitors alike take time to peruse through unique vendors, sit and enjoy a parade or two and possibly scarf down a few aebleskivers, my experience over the past decade is a bit unlike that of the typical festivalgoer.
