Regular elections, by their very nature, result in the will of the many being made known and, yes, there will always be winners and losers.
Recall elections, however, and again by their very nature, result in a very different outcome for the local community. These “one issue” elections pit neighbor against neighbor causing residual damage that generally will take years from which to recover. My perspective is unique as I served the citizens of Ionia County for many years as their county clerk and during this time several recall attempts were initiated and damage was done.

A letter to the editor dated March 11, 2023, asserted that 2A Sanctuary would “encourage our law officers to refuse to enforce any laws that some persons might find objectionable specifically gun safety laws.”
All elected officials take an oath to uphold the highest law of the land, the U.S. Constitution. The language and intent of the 2nd Amendment is clear. “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

In a recent Public Forum article titled, “My take on equity,” the author expressed his views regarding critical race theory.
Albeit it relatively well written it seemed to have all of the trappings of a conspiracy theorists’ perfect storm. First and foremost, CRT is a theory, nothing more, nothing less. That being said, it is merely an additional point of view to be taken into consideration in discussions and or debates in or out of the classroom and not considered an absolute. Hence, the author labeling it and or its use in education as “government-endorsed morality curriculum” and or indoctrination is simply ludicrous.

Did you know St. Charles School students serve our community?
It is refreshing to see youth giving back to their community, especially when our society greatly needs it. This idea of serving others comes from our mission statement to grow each day in faith, academics and service. The mindset of serving others is planted in the minds of our preschool students, nurtured in our elementary students and our middle school students exemplify our Interact Club motto of “service before self” by performing service projects such as making blankets for Mission Point residents in Greenville, collaborating with IM 3rd Meal, gathering food for Bread of Life Food Pantry and others throughout the year.

Many of us might not know it, but there are legitimate heroes among us in Cato Township.
A hero is someone who selflessly advocates for and protects the rights and well-being of others without any expectation of favor or compensation. Heroes stand up for what’s right just because it is right. They are fully transparent and don’t have hidden agendas. They are not swayed by attacks or public opinion. They are people you can trust. They want what’s best for all of us.

I am writing in regard to all the changes going on in Belvidere Township.
As a taxpayer in this township, I find it alarming that the new board has absolutely no idea what is going on or how to run a meeting. The new supervisor was looking at us the community to make motions for the passing of Planning Commission updates. That I may add the board knew nothing about.
