 The trees in downtown Edmore are pretty, especially in autumn.

However, they also cover up multiple business signs, they are scattered in clusters throughout the downtown leaving many wide-open gaps and the roots of some of the trees are now growing into the sewer system.

Motion to remove trees at Otisco Township Hall fails in tied vote

A decision on whether to cut down a number of trees near Otisco Township Hall came down to a split vote of the township board Tuesday, potentially leading to more unknowns going forward. 

Members of the board voted on a motion to go out to bid for the removal of seven trees and trimming of three additional trees to the west of the township hall near the township’s park and playground. 

Greenville DDA recommends removal of downtown tree

Flo’s made request due to excessive maintenance costs

Citing concerns over excessive maintenance costs, from roof cleanup to HVAC cleaning, a tree in the city’s historic downtown district may be coming down. 

That’s the direction the Greenville Downtown Development Authority (DDA) took Tuesday when it voted 5-2 (with DDA members Brenda Fryer and Melanie Hansen absent) on a recommendation to the Greenville City Council to remove a tree located in the public right-of-way in front Flo’s Pizzeria Ristorante & Sports Bar at 107 S. Lafayette St.
