Discussion continued Tuesday about expanding the Pitsch Sanitary Landfill during the Ionia County Solid Waste Planning Committee’s latest meeting.
Much of the discussion focused on the potential environmental impact of a landfill expansion proposed by Gary Pitsch, owner of the 143.5-acre landfill in Orleans Township.
The owners of an Ionia County landfill are asking the county board of commissioners for permission to expand into a second township, and take in more waste from outside the county.
Gary Pitsch of Pitsch Recycle and Disposal Inc., which operates the 143.5-acre Pitsch Sanitary Landfill in Orleans Township, attended the April 27, May 11 and May 18 meetings to discuss amendments he is proposing to the Ionia County Solid Waste Plan.
