Justin Zimmer was added to the Buffalo Bills practice squad on Tuesday.
The free agent defensive tackle previously played for the Bills in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Having played previously for the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns, Zimmer saw his most plentiful and productive playing time with the Bills, appearing in 18 games over two seasons for the franchise and recording 29 tackles, two sacks and a game-winning forced fumble against the New England Patriots in 2020.
Greenville native Justin Zimmer is excited to come back home — a tradition he started last year and hopes to continue for years to come.
The Justin Zimmer Youth Football Camp debuted last June at Greenville High School with the namesake coming back to his hometown, with all proceeds from the camp being donated back to a local charity. This year, Zimmer, a 2011 graduate of Greenville High School, is coming back to give back to the local area and put on the camp once again on June 25.
A decade ago, as a high school senior, Justin Zimmer walked the halls of Greenville High School as just one of many students.
Back in Greenville this past weekend, Zimmer was followed by a bit of his newfound celebrity status around town as he found himself signing autographs, taking pictures and being the center of attention at his first Justin Zimmer Youth Football Camp hosted at Greenville High School. Even as he’s making plays on the biggest stage in football as a defensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills, Zimmer remains humbled by his success and respected status in the Greenville community.
As a kid growing up in Greenville, Justin Zimmer remembers how special it was to see a professional athlete in his hometown.
“I remember going to the Zach Ingles basketball camp and how it cool it was that he was around there and he played professional basketball overseas so I’m sure it’ll be a similar feeling,” Zimmer said. “I remember how excited I would get every year for that.”
