Attorneys plan to use Michigan marijuana law defense at prelim for 6 defendants
The Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act is expected to be used as a defense for at least some of the six defendants charged with multiple illegal commercial marijuana grows in Kent, Montcalm and Newaygo counties.
The six defendants — Fen Chen, Feng Chen, Zhi Hui Chen, Hong Liang Lin, Binbin Weng and Yuliang Wu — are all scheduled to go to a preliminary examination on April 22 in Montcalm County District Court; however, at least two of them have been offered a plea deal by the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office which they may accept before the prelim.
