Northview spoils Greenville’s homecoming, beats Jackets 42-0 in impressive defensive showing

When the Yellow Jackets had a first down on a nine-yard pass in their first offensive drive of the game, the players had no inkling that it would be their only such chain movement in the first half.

The Greenville varsity football team’s offense was stymied at home on Friday against the Northview Wildcats. In a game where Greenville (0-5) had little to no offensive momentum until late in the game when their reserves came in, the Jackets fell to Northview 42-0 during their homecoming game.

Greenville students, school administrators reach compromise on upcoming homecoming dance

Standing nervously at a microphone with a crowd of more than 100 residents seated behind her, Siera Merlington, 16, admittedly a quiet and shy student, reached deep down inside herself to find the courage to speak. 

The Greenville High School junior had chosen to attend the Sept. 13 meeting of the Greenville Public Schools Board of Education, a meeting attended by a large, passionate crowd that was mostly focused on issues surrounding face masks and vaccines as they pertain to the coronavirus pandemic.
