The Ionia High School Athletic Hall of Fame recently announced its incoming class of 2022, which features five individuals, one team and a special honorable mention induction.
The inductees will be recognized at Ionia’s final regular-season home game of the season — an Oct. 21 contest against Lakewood. The official induction ceremony will take place the following evening, 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Steele Street Hall.
The Greenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame will have three new inductees this year and will be recognizing a fourth inductee, initially introduced in 2020, but not yet formally recognized for the hall of fame.
The new class of inductees will be formally recognized at a ceremony before tonight’s varsity football game, where the Yellow Jackets will face off against Lowell (2-0). At halftime of the game, the inductees will be officially inducted and introduced to the crowd at Legacy Field.
The Vestaburg Athletic Department will add 17 more names to its growing sports Hall of Fame on Saturday as the Wolverines induct the class of 2021.
Starting in 2019, the Vestaburg High School Hall of Fame has historically held its induction ceremonies at halftime of varsity basketball games in February. This year, the school announced it would honor the Hall of Fame inductees on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Vestaburg High School commons.
The 2020 Ionia Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame class had to wait over a full year for their in-person recognition but the wait is almost over as the class will be honored and recognized this weekend.
The IPS Athletic Hall of Fame committee decided to not elect a class of 2021 and will instead use this year to honor the 2020 class.
While there was no official induction ceremony last season, the Greenville Athletic Hall of Fame did not skip a year of inductees in 2020 and recently added to that list with the class of 2021 being announced.
The two classes were initially set to be recognized at the home football game against Byron Center this Friday, however, with the game now being canceled due to a positive COVID-19 case within the Greenville football program, the induction ceremony will be rescheduled for a later date.
