A majority of the Ionia County Board of Commissioners decided to go against the recommendation of its administrator and finance director and voted to fill a vacancy in the Friend of the Court office.
Commissioners voted 6-1 on March 23 to fill a court recorder vacancy created after Beverly Strange retired on Jan. 4. The job has an annual salary of about $29,736. Commissioner George Sharp of Portland cast the lone opposing vote.
