With each frozen turkey that made its way into the Bread of Life food pantry Tuesday morning, pantry manager Suzanne Le Feve’s excitement grew.
In the past two weeks, demand at area pantries has grown and nearing the eve of Thanksgiving Day, Le Feve wasn’t necessarily sure if the pantry would be able to meet the demand for so many area families in need.
Every year, food pantries across Montcalm and Ionia counties are fully stocked in the winter months thanks to generous holiday donations, but when summer comes, donations drop considerably, and pantry shelves become sparse. This can leave low-income, hard-working families with limited options during this time of year.
