The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed the convictions of an Orleans man who threatened three Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) employees with an ax handle and then drove his van at them.
Raymond John-Orlo Vanbuskirk, 54, was convicted by an Ionia County jury in October 2020 of felonious assault, two counts of assaulting/resisting a police officer and three counts of threats or assault against an employee of a family independence agency.

Stephanie Ruth Johnston, 20, was sentenced Sept. 7 by Ionia County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Schafer to 120 days in the Ionia County Jail, with credit for 66 days previously served. She also must pay $2,408 in costs and fees, which includes $900 in restitution and a $500 fine. She will be on probation for 24 months.
