construction setback variance

Despite unknowns, Montcalm County board approves construction setback variance in Crystal Township

The majority of the Montcalm County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a construction setback variance request in downtown Crystal, even though most commissioners voiced their concern over the lack of a plan.

Gerrit Bakker requested a construction setback variance for a century-old building on commercial property at 114 and 118 North Shore Drive next door to The Wet Spot Bar and across the road from Crystal Lake. Bakker purchased the property from Patricia McShosh and McFro Corp. in 2001, according to county equalization records.
