Greenville Planning Commission interviewing planning firms for vacant role of city planner

With potential housing plans or perhaps a site plan in wait regarding this city’s next commercial development, the Greenville Planning Commission has been tasked with selecting the community’s next city planner. 

During the Feb. 24 meeting of the Planning Commission, Greenville City Manager George Bosanic brought two potential clients — McKenna and Spicer Group — to fill the role of city planner, with a third interview — Williams and Works — scheduled for Thursday.

Following the retirement of city planner Tim Johnson in December, members of the Greenville Planning Commission have begun to move forward with finding a replacement.

Having offered contributions on numerous site plans and given advice time and again on various master plans, Greenville City Planner Tim Johnson announced he will be leaving his position after 18 years. 

During Thursday’s meeting of the Greenville Planning Commission, City Manager George Bosanic announced that Johnson is intending to retire at the end of this year.

The Ionia City Council voted Tuesday night to hire a new firm to provide planning and zoning consulting services, after its former planning consultant resigned.

The City Council approved City Manager Precia Garland’s recommendation to enter into a contract with Williams & Works of Grand Rapids to provide the city with professional services at an hourly rate of $100.
