Central Montcalm softball has been a mainstay at the top of the CSAA-Gold standings and a regular contender for district and regional championships over the past six seasons but this year’s Green Hornets have fallen on some harder times.

Head coach Bruce Nicholson playfully referred to his team as the “walking wounded,” as they’ve run into a series of unfortunate injuries throughout this year. As such, many younger players are seeing plenty of varsity playtime — something that could pay dividends in years to come but is presenting some difficulty for the current Green Hornets.

The Central Montcalm senior recently made the switch in her college destination, signing her letter of intent on Tuesday to join the Cornerstone University softball team.
