Voting trends suggest 50+ voters to decide election

As the Nov. 8 General Election approaches, AARP predicts Michigan’s older voters will likely drive outcomes across the ballot, if historical election trends hold true.

According to voting records, older voters represent a major force in elections, voting at higher rates than other age groups. In Michigan during the last round of midterm elections in 2018, 63.4 percent of voters ages 45 to 64 and 73 percent of voters 65 and older cast ballots, compared with 33.2 percent of those 18 to 24.
