Developer offers new proposal for Greenville’s Forest View subdivision

A new housing development proposed in the north end of the city could bring about a revitalization of a subdivision that was once planned to be filled with more than 300 housing units. 

Eighteen years ago, developer Alden Nash Properties of Grand Rapids purchased a 56-acre site located on the northern boundary of Greenville West Drive, previously owned by the city of Greenville, with a plan to construct a total of 96 buildings.

Jennifer Ross and Santana Weaver opened the Thread, White and Blue Boutique and Grand Ionia Antiques at 313 W. Main St. one year ago this week. The mother and daughter duo reports that business has been going rather well for them in downtown Ionia and they are hopeful for the future.

Ionia volleyball never trails, sweeps Portland to claim second district title since 2019

Mikaiah White felt a wide range of emotions as the points started to tick away Thursday night. Part of the senior’s heart was hurting because this was her final time on her home floor playing volleyball — most of her heart was excited.

Why wouldn’t she? All of the fans wearing blue were rising to their feet, applauding their team and willing them to earn that final point. Ionia’s students were sweeping popcorn off the floor into a dustpan, indicative of the feat their Bulldogs were moments away from pulling off.

An Ionia woman was scheduled to go to trial Thursday morning on charges of driving drunk and killing a motorcyclist more than a year ago.

However, Terasa Lyn Trebian, 49, decided to enter a plea before Ionia County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Schafer just moments before the trial was set to start.
