Central Montcalm football dominates opener at Morley Stanwood behind strong ground game, stronger defense

Central Montcalm’s football team has started on the right foot each of the last three seasons, all of head coach Scott Cripe’s seasons. 

Cripe said in the preseason that starting hot is always important, but it’s more important to not let a hot start go to the team’s head and breed overconfidence. 

Montcalm Township Planning Commission makes progress toward clarifying zoning penalties, fines

While this township has a number of zoning ordinances residents are expected to abide by, a question has been hanging over the heads of township officials for several months now — how are those ordinances enforced? 

During Tuesday’s meeting of the Montcalm Township Planning Commission, commissioners revisited the subject of zoning enforcement following complaints from several residents, as well as Zoning Administrator Mike Nelson, that a lack of clarity regarding violations and penalties has resulted in a lack of compliance. 

Greenville football loses season opener at Allendale, 29-7

A dream scenario of a start for the Greenville Yellow Jackets soured quickly on Thursday night as their football season opened at Allendale High School.

Greenville could not have started better in the contest, scoring first and looking dominant in the first four-and-a-half minutes, but Allendale owned the final 44 minutes as Greenville lost its season opener, 29-7.

World’s Largest Food Truck Rally returning to Ionia

Skip breakfast, grab a bib and wear clothes you don’t mind spilling sauce on, because the World’s Largest Food Truck Rally is coming back to the Ionia Free Fair on Sept. 24.

The event will open at 11 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. That is a solid eight hours to sample a variety of cuisine from more than 50 trucks that have registered so far.
