Kenyon family’s 50 years of Ionia water service comes to end

Last Friday was Chris Kenyon’s final day as Ionia’s director of public utilities, ending five decades with a Kenyon at the helm of the city’s water delivery system and wastewater treatment plant.

Over Kenyon’s long career, he has won many awards and he is currently the national director of the Michigan Rural Water Association and treasurer of the National Rural Water Association’s small system committee.

German’s teacher and Belding assistant cross country and track coach, Morgan Jackson, mentioned in class that her husband attended a small community college in the Rocky Mountains — Colorado Mountain College Leadville. It wasn’t much, but it piqued the interest of German, who was undecided on her college of choice at the time.

2 bicyclists killed by suspected drunken driver, 3 others severely injured in Ionia County

Two bicyclists riding in a Make A Wish Bicycle Tour were struck and killed by a suspected drunken driver while three others were severely injured late on Saturday morning.

Ionia County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 11:15 a.m. about a car that had run into a group of bicyclists in the 3000 block of Stage Road of Ronald Township.
