MCC recognizes instructors for their achievements
Two Montcalm Community College instructors were honored during the college’s 55th Annual Commencement ceremony Friday at the college’s Sidney campus.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Rob Spohr presented awards to one full-time and one part-time faculty member in recognition of their noteworthy work with and on behalf of students, scholarly or professional achievement and service to MCC.

MCC awards its first Distinguished Alumni Award to Sally Ann Welch-Spry
Montcalm Community College awarded its first Distinguished Alumni Award to Sally Ann Welch-Spry during the college’s 55th annual commencement ceremony Friday.
The award was created this year to honor an outstanding alumnus who has advanced their career and brought credit to themselves and to MCC through their accomplishments and community service, and who has embodied one or more of MCC’s value statements that spell SERVICE: student success, empowerment, relationships, visionary, inclusion, community and excellence.

Ground broken for Lakeview health clinic
A long-anticipated project got underway with a ceremonial groundbreaking last Tuesday for the new Lakeview Rural Health Clinic.
Lakeview Village Manager Darin Dood was among the 40 or so community and Spectrum Health leaders who gathered on a rainy afternoon to mark the official launch of the project. Dood was excited to see it finally underway.

Montcalm County murder trial reveals police still searching for 1 teen allegedly involved
Murder trial testimony Saturday morning revealed police are still searching for one teen allegedly involved in the incident more than a year ago.
Nicholas Bauer, 19, of Stanton is charged with murder, assault with intent to commit murder and two counts of felony firearms in the January 2021 shooting death of Destini Cunliffe, 18, of Greenville, as well as the shooting of a 15-year-old Greenville girl who sustained a leg injury. Bauer was 17 at the time of the incident.
