With chilly and icy weather marking the occasion, the annual Crystal Lake Winter Festival returned to the township with a little something for everyone.

GRACE FOWLER: How attached to your hair are you?

I recently had about 10 inches cut off my hair. It was about two years’ worth of growth.

I had the salon donate the hair they cut to Children with Hairloss, a non-profit organization that provides hair replacements at no cost to young adults and children dealing with medical-related hair loss. I appreciate the fact that the hair I was so sick of and starting to resent could benefit someone else. I love that they do not charge families and I love that the hair can be dyed and still donated. My salon makes it really easy and mails it for me.
