Greenville council OKs zoning changes to ease restrictions on nonconforming residential lots

A narrow strip of property, long-vacant following a fire that burned down the residence that once stood upon it, may once again become home to a new residence.

For many years, the property at 408 W. Washington St. (M-57) at just 50 feet in width has sat vacant, sandwiched within other homes between S. Irving and S. Cross streets.

Pierson Township to split into two voting precincts

One of Montcalm County’s fastest-growing townships is splitting into two voting precincts to keep up with the increasing population.

The Pierson Township Board voted 5-0 on Dec 14 to begin the process of dividing the township from one into two precincts.

Pierson Township receives land donation for park


The Pierson Township Board recently announced to township residents it has received a generous land donation from Jay and Diane Bassett of just under three acres behind the Township Hall.

This land, in combination with land already held by the township, will be developed into an approximate five-acre community multi-use park/recreation area.

Book clubs, writers’ groups available at CC, Crystal libraries


The Carson City Public Library Book Club is now featuring “The Lincoln Highway” by Amor Towles. When the bank forecloses on their family farm, two orphaned brothers plan to head to California, but are sidetracked by a road trip to New York City. We will discuss this book at 6 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2022, at Carson City Public Library.

The Crystal Community Library Book Club is now featuring “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris, and “The Sunday Potluck Club” by Melissa Storm. The book club will discuss these powerful stories of friendship, love, healing and survival at 9:30 a.m. March 21, 2022 at Crystal Community Library.
