Carson City-Crystal gets five new scoreboards, three donated by the CC-C Area Schools Foundation

When looking at needs for the Carson City-Crystal athletic department, athletic director Travis Wilcox has had one thing on his mind for a few years.

The athletic scoreboards at CC-C were in desperate need of an upgrade coming into the year. With only a couple of working controllers for scoreboards that were discontinued by many years, the time was coming to upgrade.

Election commission again denies recall petitions

Citizen targets Sidney Township trustee over wind energy issue

For the second time this month, the Montcalm County Election Commission declined to approve recall language alleged against a Sidney Township Board trustee related to the township’s wind energy ordinance.

Jeffrey Lodholtz of Sidney Township initially filed a recall petition against Jed Welder on Sept. 27. The Election Commission met on Oct. 8 and denied that language due to lack of clarity.

Montcalm County ‘actively’ working to bring back library committee

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners is working to bring back a county library committee after it apparently dissolved years ago without explanation.

Montcalm County commissioners are responsible for appointing representatives to a county library committee, but that committee hasn’t even been mentioned in county meeting minutes since January 2017.

Committee re-approves new Ionia County commissioner plan

The Ionia County Apportionment Committee met Monday morning, once more and for the final time, to re-approve the 2021 Board of Commissioners Apportionment Plan.

The validation plan, the map and the resolution approving the apportionment plan was re-approved by the committee members at the brief meeting. It will be re-submitted — both electronically and by the U.S. Postal Service — to the Michigan Secretary of State as the county’s plan for the next 10 years.
