Always an advocate of expanding walkability throughout this community, Larry Moss would have it no other way than to take a stroll on the sidewalk when meeting an associate for lunch in downtown Greenville.

Cato Township Planning Commission secretary declines multiple calls for her to step down from wind ordinance discussion

The Cato Township Planning Commission pressed pause on wind ordinance work to seek legal advice as one of its own members fielded multiple requests from residents for her to step down.

Wednesday’s meeting began with nearly an hour of public comment voicing concerns about Apex Clean Energy’s wind turbine proposal for Montcalm County, as well as concerns about possible conflicts of interest within the township.

St. Mary’s Miriam Church celebrates sesquicentennial on Sunday

For 150 years, St. Mary’s Miriam Church has watched over the quiet farming community of Otisco Township near Belding, and generations of families have returned the favor by taking good care of it.

On Sunday, members of the Roman Catholic parish will celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of their beloved church with Mass at 8:30 a.m., and then a “get-together” starting at noon.

Crystal Township hopeful to receive state grant money for park project

The Crystal Township Board hasn’t heard back yet from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF) in regards to a park grant application, but township officials are hopeful.

For the past two years, the Crystal Township Board submitted a grant application the MNRTF to help fund some major improvements to Crystal Township Park. Neither grant application resulted in the township seeing any money.

Pine Township officials are backing off from using the same law firm to help update the township’s wind ordinance who is also representing a wind energy developer looking to construct turbines within the township.
